Timeline Basics
Master the timeline interface, navigation, and loop playback for efficient editing.
Timeline Overview
The timeline is where you control the timing and arrangement of all elements in your video. It displays multiple tracks for different types of content.
Playhead Navigation
The playhead (vertical red line) shows your current position in the video. Move it to navigate through your recording.
Click on Ruler
Click anywhere on the timeline ruler to jump to that position.
Drag Playhead
Drag the playhead to scrub through your video and preview different sections.
Arrow Keys
Use ← and → to move frame by frame for precise positioning.
Loop Playback
Loop a specific section to review zoom effects, text animations, or transitions repeatedly.
Setting Loop Region
Method 1: Keyboard
- Move playhead to loop start position
- Press I to set In marker
- Move playhead to loop end position
- Press O to set Out marker
Method 2: Drag on Ruler
Hold Option (Mac) and drag on the ruler to select a region.

Markers
Add markers to bookmark important moments in your timeline for quick navigation.
Add Marker
Press M at the current playhead position to add a marker. Markers appear as colored flags on the ruler.
